Please find attached a copy of your insurance application for review.

Can you please look it over and ensure that all questions are answered correctly and if any changes are necessary, please do not hesitate to contact our office.

If we do not hear from you within a week, we will assume that it is correct and we will forward on to the appropriate Insurance Company.

Below you will find a guide to assist in our underwriting requirements for your insurance. You will find the suggestions it contains help to make the process easier.

Helping Manage Your Underwriting Process

A nurse from a paramedical company will be calling to set up a convenience time to complete the necessary medical requirements.

In anticipation of medicals, we provide our clients with the following list of "do’s" and "don'ts" for the day of the exam to ensure the accuracy and effectiveness of the medical information.

DO

• Reschedule the appointment if you are ill (flu or cold etc.) or have a recent bone fracture (i.e. suffered within 1 week of the medical or paramedical).
• Abstain from food for a minimum of 60 minutes before the appointment (yes, even a timbit), and preferably no food after dinner the night before.
• Be adequately hydrated - drink plenty of water.

• List all vitamins and herbs that you may be taking as there may be ingredients in some supplements that may distort blood test results. The underwriter’s decision will not be impacted if he is aware of these details.

DON’T

• Exercise vigorously 24 hours before the exam, even if you do this regularly.
• Consume more than 1 cup of coffee the morning of the medical or paramedical (if you must, NONE 1 hour before!!).
• If you smoke, DO NOT within 2 hours of your appointment. If you do, let the nurse know and make sure she notates it (smoking increases the heart rate!L). If possible, try to abstain until after the medical or paramedical is completed.

Once these medicals are completed, the nurse sends in the results to the paramedical company and these are forwarded to the Insurance Company. The process takes approximately one week from your appointment.

The medicals are given to the underwriter for Review. If they require more medical information or verification of information received, they request an Attending Physicians Statement from your Doctor. This process takes anywhere from 2 to 4 weeks depending on how fast the Doctor completes the form.

Once the Insurance Company compiles all the medical evidence, they review and make a decision. The policy is sent to the issue department to be printed. It takes approximately one week before it arrives at our office. The policy is received and checked for accuracy, we then notify the client to arrange an appointment for delivery.
